Space has become an indispensable part of our modern society. Everyone uses space, every day. We find the fastest route from A to B thanks to navigation satellites. We are in contact with the entire world via communication satellites. And we largely owe our weather forecasts to earth observation satellites.

Earth observation satellites collect data about our planet. This data provides insight into the condition of our infrastructure and how quickly sea levels are rising. Farmers use earth observation data for precision agriculture. And government organizations use it to study water and air quality.

In short: earth observation data enables countless applications that make our life on earth safer, better, more efficient, and more sustainable. That’s why the Netherlands Space Agency endorses the use of satellite data by the government, businesses, and scientists, among others. We do this through various programs and challenges.
