Long-Term Space Agenda
Space is all around us and indispensable in our daily lives. It is crucial for a safe living environment, in the fight against climate change, and is relevant for agriculture and other sectors that rely on navigation and communication technologies. This makes space of strategic importance, which calls for a long-term vision for space in the Netherlands: the Long-Term Space Agenda (LTR).
The LTR has been developed by the government of the Netherlands in collaboration with the national space ecosystem. The agenda enables the Netherlands to contribute optimally to European space activities and to make the best use of space on a national level for the benefit of society.
The LTR outlines six concrete missions that guide space policy in the Netherlands:
- Mission 1: The use of space makes the Netherlands and the world safer.
- Mission 2: The Netherlands uses space for climate and the environment.
- Mission 3: Science and instruments from the Netherlands rank among the world’s best.
- Mission 4: Satellite data is a strategic tool for solving societal challenges.
- Mission 5: Companies in the Netherlands seize growth opportunities in space.
- Mission 6: The Netherlands promotes a strong international legal framework for space.
