Science is crucial for space. Consider research into innovative technologies, which are essential for the success of space missions. The reverse is also true: space exploration can significantly add value to science. For example, satellite data is indispensable for research into climate and air quality.

The Netherlands Space Agency strengthens the relationship between science and space exploration and supports, for example:

  • Scientists seeking funding for their research.
  • Scientists interested in the possibilities of satellite data.
  • Scientists developing innovative space technology.
  • Scientists playing or aspiring to play a role in international space missions.
Science for Space

We stimulate scientific research for space missions. Through the Instruments Programme, we support companies, institutions, and universities that develop sensors and instruments for future space missions.

The PIPP (Partnerships for Space Instruments & Applications Preparatory Programme) exists for Knowledge Networks, which promote knowledge collaboration in space exploration. And for scientists who participate or wish to participate in national and international space missions, for example as a Principal Investigator.

Space for Science

For scientists who want to use satellite data for research, there is the GO programme. Scientists can also participate in European programs, such as EO science for society, or ESA’s astronomy and planetary research program.
